Hello Neighbors,
You may have read in the newspapers or seen stories on the TV news about the recent eminent domain situation between Auto-trol Technology Corp. and Adams 12 School District. Because this happened in our neighborhood, it should be of great interest to us all. There's not space enough in this letter to cover all the details regarding this issue, so I would encourage you to visit the Web site www.iclaimeminentdomain.com. This is one time when an event is not far removed from us and clearly bad things don't always happen to "the other guy". This could be anyone's property - it could be your property. Most of the time, the acquisition of property through the eminent domain process is fair and equitable to both the entity doing the acquiring and the property owner. Unfortunately, in this case, Adams 12 School District offered the property owner, Auto-trol Technology Corp., much less than the market value of the property. The School District refused to negotiate on the price and planned to secure the property through the eminent domain process. Realizing the inevitable was going to happen - that the property was going to be taken - Auto-trol found office space and proceeded to pack up, only to have Adams 12 School District back out on the deal. Again, I would urge you to visit the Web site I have noted above, and find out more of the details of this failed process. Try to imagine how this would impact your life if it happened to you and demand, that going forward, Adams 12 School District operate in a more ethical and prudent way when dealing with constituents in their district. Thank you for your time and interest, Danny Stroud |
